DALROD Peterborough Islanders 5
Chelmsford Warriors 8
The DALROD Peterborough Phantoms game was cancelled on Saturday and allowed the Islanders to utilise some of the two-way registered players. Martin Susters and Scott Robson joined the Isles for the Chelmsford cup game, and with the return of some injured players, the team looked very strong on paper.
The game started fairly evenly and both sides made some confident play early on, but it was Chelmsford who struck first six minutes in. Kenny Bavin tied the game up in his first shift of the game and the pressure mounted for both sides. The Islanders were unlucky not to take the lead 15 minutes in, but were denied by a great save from Sonny Phillips and ended up dropping another goal 3 minutes before the end of the first period.
DALROD Peterborough Islanders 16 - 0 Lee Valley Lions
Last weekend the Islanders suffered a brutal defeat at the hands of Chelmsford, however they bounced back well at home this week.
Lee Valley turned up with just nine out skaters and realised they were on for a tough night very early on. Once the Islanders had settled into the game, the goals began to flood in. Clint Herring opened scoring within the first 5 minutes and both Shaun Yardley and James Pentecost found the back of the net less then a minute afterwards.
Tipple (Lee Valley’s goaltender) faced a barrage of Islanders pressure and was broken again twice more in the period. Kenny Bavin added another goal to his league total and Josh Turley scrambled home another following some excellent play from Billy Porter in the corner.
