The Peterborough Dalrod Islanders are delighted to announce their coaching team for the 2016/17 season.
Stevie Johnson will be returning for his 3rd season with the Islanders and will be joined again by assistant coach Steve Wren. Shaun Yardley has also joined the Coaching team whilst continuing to play.
Coach Johnson is already looking forward to the season “It’s my 20th Year coaching in Peterborough and it is also the Islanders 20th Year. I am really forward to giving it another go and winning some silverware this season. The amount of effort Dave and Jo Lane put into the Islanders is amazing and I want to help them build on the success we have already had. We were so close to silverware last year being runners up in the League and Cup and losing on penalty shots in the semi-finals of the Playoffs and it would be great to go one better this season.” Johnson also added “We had 3 players progress to the next step of their careers in the EPL which is ultimately the Islanders goal, Islanders have a great bunch of guys and I am looking forward to another rollercoaster season.”
The League Management Committee of the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) are pleased to confirm the structure for the NIHL North and South for the coming season.
The National League is the second tier of senior hockey under the EIHA umbrella and features 36 clubs from across the length and breadth of England, Wales and a club in south west Scotland.
Both respective top divisions have lost teams at a late stage in the planning process. In NIHL North 1 (Moralee) Sheffield Spartans withdrew in mid July while in the South Division 1 Cardiff Devils formally pulled out at the eleventh hour. An offer of a place in NIHL South 1 was made to another team but sadly could not proceed at such short notice.
