The Dalrod Phantoms NIHL 2 are delighted to announce their next 3 signings. Forwards Clint Herring and Kenny Bavin and Utility player Shaun Yardley have agreed to return to for the 17/18 season.
Last season’s Player of the year Clint Herring will be entering his 8th season in Peterborough colours, and is a true leader on the team, it was a Career year for him last season, posting 27 goals and 15 assists in 26 games, including a hat trick in the 5-2 cup semi-final win. Clint is a nightmare for opposition defenders, he is a big lad who is difficult to knock off the puck, and is always getting in the right positions in front of the net to create scoring chances. Coming back this season was a no-brainer for Clint ‘After such a successful season it was an easy decision to return. As a team the bond we have is like no other and I can't wait to get started. It's going to be a tough season with the new teams in the league but I am confident we can rise to the Challenge’ always willing to stand up for his team-mates when needed, Herring is 3rd on the Islanders all time penalty minutes list, and 5th overall on the all-time goals list, scoring 88 goals in 147 games. Coach Johnson is very happy to have him back next season ‘Clint fully deserved his player of the season award last year, he stood tall in the big games and led by example scoring important goals, he gets the job done every night and puts 100% into every game’
The Dalrod Peterborough Phantoms 2 are delighted to announce the next two signings for the 17/18 season. Again another pair of returnees with highly rated defensemen Craig Wallis and Rob McDonald pulling on the Phantoms jersey next season.
This will be Craig’s 3rd season in Peterborough Colours, he has represented both the Phantoms and the Islanders despite being a product of the Nottingham junior system. Craig possesses great skating ability and offensive talent to add to his great defensive play and is extremely versatile. This was demonstrated in the playoffs and cup final last season where he played as a forward and chipped in with some important points. In 18 games for the Islanders last season he posted 7 goals and 11 assists. Well-travelled last season, playing for 4 different teams, pulling on Manchester Phoenix, Peterborough Phantoms and Sutton Sting jerseys, before joining the Islanders permanently in January. And as a permanent member of the Phantoms NIHL 2 this season, he is hoping for more success following last season ‘I'm happy to be back in Peterborough for another season, hopefully to win some more silverware with the team. It will be an interesting league this year with lots of different teams to play, which should make it more competitive. I can't wait to get back onto the ice with the lads and hopefully have a good year.’ Regarded as one of the best in the league Stevie was delighted that Craig is returning ‘ “Milky” is a very smart hockey player, he reads the play well and simplifies the game. We know he is one of the best defensemen in the league and we are looking forward to getting the best out of him again this season.’
