The Islanders are delighted to announce that Dale Jowett, Clint Herring and Kenny Bavin are returning to the Islanders for the 2016/2017 season.
Dale made his first Islanders appearance in the 2007-08 season and has made over 200 appearances for the Islanders. Apart from a brief gap in 2008-09 when he was signed for the Phantoms as part of the treble winning side, this will be his 9th season with the Islanders. He has amassed 44 Goals and 71 assists so far including 9 Goals and 13 Assists last season and will look to build on that this season. Dale is great defensively and is the go to guy on the Penalty Kill, if you need to win an important faceoff or get something going then he is somebody you would turn to. Stevie is delighted Dale has chosen to re-signed for the coming season “Dale is one of the best role players in the league and does exactly what is asked of him, Dale, Clint and Kenny were crucial as a line to our success last year and scored some important goals and gelled extremely well.” Jowett is eager to build on last year’s efforts “It’s a pleasure to be signing again, we have a great bunch of guys on this team and I look forward to winning something this year.”
Herring is another player who is no stranger to the Islanders team. He made his debut in 2004 and has played 108 games for Islanders scoring 69 goals and 80 assists aswell as over 600 penalty minutes. Clint took 6 years away from hockey before signing for the Islanders last season, but picked up where he left off, posting 24 points in 19 games. Clint is looking forward to another season with the Islanders “'I’m returning because I really enjoyed getting back into hockey last year and it was a great season playing with a great team. We are looking like a strong team this year and I think this team can go all the way this season.” Coach Johnson is extremely pleased to have retained Clint’s services for the season, “Clint is a guy you want on your team if you need things to get going, he works hard both ends of the ice and is not afraid to throw the body and get physical.”
Last season’s Players Player and Coaches’ Player Kenny has put pen to paper and agreed to re-sign for the Islanders this season. It was his first year with the Islanders last season and he can’t wait for this season to start “After the season we had last year, it was a no-brainer to re-sign this year. We came so close to silverware that it's got the boys more determined to finish the job this season. I didn't want to miss the opportunity to be part of that.” After coming through the junior ranks at Peterborough but hanging his skates up in 2005, Kenny decided to give it another go in 2014-2015 and joined the Peterborough Flyers. After a tremendous season with them he jumped at the chance to join the Islanders for the following season. Stevie is very pleased that Kenny has agreed to sign “Kenny had a brilliant first year back and we were thrilled to have him on the team, he will put 100% into every shift and really is the definition of a ‘team player’".
The Dalrod Islanders will be announcing more player signings this week.
