The Dalrod Phantoms NIHL 2 are happy to announce three returnees for the 17/18 season.
Dale Jowett is entering his 11th season with the team, playing in 214 games with a points total of 57 Goals and 89 Assists(5th on the Islanders all time list) and 604 PIMS. Dale is known for his ability at both ends of the ice, a player who works tirelessly for the team and is not afraid to stand up for his team mates. Missing the second half of last season due to injury Dale can't wait to get back to playing again this season. 'Obviously I was gutted to miss out on the second half of last season and miss the treble. The boys worked so hard for it, coming so close the past few seasons it was great for us to be able to do the business last season. I'm excited to be back playing some stronger teams and seeing how much we can push them' Dale is a player that you can rely on in any situation, and is great on the penalty kill. Stevie is looking forward to getting the best out of him this season. 'Dale is one of the best two way forwards in the team, he reads the game well and makes the right choices in the right areas of the ice, I'm delighted he's coming back.'
Another long serving Islander is returning for the 17/18 season for his 10th year with the team. Jonathan Brammall wore an 'A' last year and is always leading by example. Whether it's blocking a shot or making a hit, he is always prepared to put his body on the line for the team. With 249 games to his name, he is the all time leader in appearances and is extremely excited about the new partnership with the phantoms and the re-branding of the team. 'With the league having a restructure and player movements, it will be great to play tough teams and really challenge us on the back of a successful season. We have a great team and the bond is something different to others. I'm pleased to be back and I'm looking forward to helping the development of the juniors coming through the ranks' With 19 Goals and 74 Assists, he can put up the points if needed. Stevie is looking forward to having 'Bram' on the blue line again this season 'Bram is so reliable, and you can use him in any situation, he will do everything for this team and I'm looking forward to seeing even more blocked shots and big hits.'
With a strong reputation as 'best flow in the league' Connor Hunter is coming back for his 7th season with the team, despite only being 24 years old and having a season off in 11/12. Connor is a reliable defenseman with strong skating ability and great work ethic. In 119 games he has posted 17 Goals and 44 Assists and 174 PIMS. After a great season last year, Stevie is looking forward to seeing Connor improve even more this year 'Last year was a standout year for Connor and he improved tremendously throughout the season, I can rely on him in any situation and that makes my life easier. Coaching Connor growing up it is always great too see how much confidence he has now.' After last seasons treble it was an easy decision for him to come back to the team, and he is looking forward to upsetting some teams this season 'After winning the treble last season and with the majority of the team returning of course I was always going to be back. This season will be very challenging but playing with the majority of these guys since we were juniors I know we have the depth to do well. Bring on September we hope to see all the regulars and some new faces in the crowd too'
